I'm on my second wk of 2 wk course of IV's, (meropenem & ciproxin) every couple days im experiencing nausea after my dose of cipro, and bubbly tummy usually followed by the runs just wondering have any of u ways of managing the nausea? I find it to be worse after my morning dose when I have yet to eat. Also having aches and foot pain which is weird and I'm making a concious effort to avoid walking like a penguin anyone experienced this?

Yes. Cipro makes my reflux much worse, and I get severe "quick step". (not as bad as bactrim for me though!). I also experience muscle and joint pain, stiffness/soreness in my ankles/feet.

What helps me is eating small frequent meals, yogurt with live cultures several times a day. I also eat several servings of plain rice and bananas each day (that helps a LOT with the runs, since its so constipating).

I drink a lot of water and exercise lightly, stretch frequently. Seems to help with the joint/muscle stuff.

Make sure you're taking probiotics while on iv meds, especially with cipro. I agree on the bananas thing. Usually a constipator, but it helps with calming stomachs down when having issues.

Thanks For your replies! I'll give a banana a go, hopefully it does the job. And yep I've been taking probiotic yoghurt while I'm on ivs, might look for something a bit stronger after the course is done. Thanks again

You are welcome Emmalou..
Right out of the jar or you can put it in a bowl .. It is applesauce not an apple. Apparently the applesauce has something beneficial w/ GI problems.
Yeah, Eating before taking abx is always a good idea. Glad to hear u are doing a little better.
Take care joni
