Cipro

Does anyone have a problem with Psuedomonas showing sensitive to Cipro in the lab, but then it doesn't work in the body?
I have had this problem for years. The CF doctors have often insisted I try Cipro, but it never works and delays treatment for weeks sometimes. I have even tried IV Cipro and it didn't work either.

Pepperkitty, I have the same problem...they always start me on cipro for pseudomonas infections and then end up switching me to leverquin but if they start me on leverquin first...it doesn't work at all...so we start with cipro but for only a week and then switch to leverquin. Hope this helps...I get pseudomonas infections a min. of twice a year sometimes more..
My best.

I am on Cipro right now and it isn't working. If I start with Levaquin it doesn't work so I do the whole cipro for a week then change to Levaquin. Makes me feel horrible for that week but it is the only way that works

I have always cultured as sensative to Cipro, as far as I know, and it didn't help me much either (at least the oral cipro), until my ent gave me a lower dose. I don't know why, but my tummy also handled it better(that I understand ), I felt better overall (usually starting out, it really waylays me ) . I don't know if this will help you or not, but the same goes for my Tobi when I start it out, I only do 2/3 of the dose, and work my way up over a few days, and I can take it for at least 3 weeks usually.
