Cleaning the Dressing on your Port?

Ok, I haven't used my port in over 6 months now and had to plug myself back on for a round as I have been feeling like crap.

Also going into the Hospital on Tuesday for them to check me out and give me the thumbs up or down to put me on the lung transplant list.

I got the IV's in today and this company sent me a new packaged comapred to what I had before.

I get three swabsticks of ChloraPrep, Povidone Iodine and Alcohol Swabs.

Am I supposed to use all three?

And what order do I use them?

Before It was only the Alcohol and the Iodine but now I got this Chloraprep that is new to me.

On the net I get conflicting infomration as is I am to use one or the other but not both.

Can someone help me out.

Hey Capi,
I've never heard of any kit contianing ALL 3 antiseptics. However, I would use either just the chloraprep, or the alchohol and betadine together, not all three. I usually do alcohol first then betadine, if you choose this method.
