Cleaning your pot

I use a big heavy pot to boil my daughter nebs in; every night. It is looking pretty ragged from all the use. How do you get the discoloration off the pot from frequent boils? Do you throw yours in the dishwasher? For some reason the dishwasher grosses me out; just not hot enough..would vinegar be ok? I figure the pot is clean inside cause it always boiling water...Anyway, I ordered an electric pressure cooker , I've used it in the past for nebs and it works really well; then pooped out after a year...Just going to use the old fashioned pot in the meantime..

I boil mine in a glass bowl in the microwave for 5 min. I clean my glass bowl at the end of each day with rubbing alcohol...I always use the same bowl, and boil in distilled water.

Periodic soaking in vinegar would be good if you use tap water and develop hard water/mineral stains on the inside of the pot, I'd think... then rinse well.

I do toss mine in the dishwasher from time to time, but it has a high heat wash setting. It really gets the pot clean. When we had issues with our old water softner, I'd use vinegar to rinse it and then wash with hot soapy water.

I am in the process of trying to justify some new pots and pans. I have it in my head that I NEED some stainless steel all-clad ones because I have one 1-quart that washes up beautifully in the dishwasher, but they are really spendy.
