clubbing

When did you start noticing that your fingers were clubbed? Just wondering because I have not noticed it yet in my daughter, but I am sure it will happen. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif" border="0"><img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-cool.gif" border="0"><img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif" border="0">

How old is your daughter? The severity of clubbing depends on the severity of her CF. Mine is pretty minor. It gets worse when I'm sick (I had big ridges in my nails after I had the flu last winter, but they grew out). The only people who ever comment on my clubbing are the manicurists at my nail salon. I never noticed my fingers being clubbed at all until I was about 10 or 11 and read a book about a girl with CF and it mentioned clubbing. I asked my mom about it and she said that my fingers were slightly clubbed

I am 27 and I have CF. My PFT's (FEV 1) is only in the mid 50's. Not wonderful, not horrible. My fingers are not clubbed one bit! It's so weird because all of my CF is respritory. I don't even have to take enzymes when I eat, so why my fingers aren't clubbed...I have no idea. To some people it happens and to others it doesn't.

I am 31 with CF...and have always had clubbed fingers. My lung function is in the low 70's, but has been better when I was younger. My brother who is 24 has always had clubbing as well.

My son is 2 and had no clubbing in his fingers. His toes aren't bad but his toenails are terrible. They are very rigid and thick in some spots thin in others. I don't know if that's part of it or just what he got from his dad's ugly feet. =)

mine have been clubbed for as long as I can remember...my FEV's are in the 60s...they don't really change with sickness.
