CLUBBING

Reeces' doctor has always been concerned or looked at his fingers & toes for clubbing. Whenever residents come by they always look at them too. (when hes in the hosptial)

Yesterday, at his clinic appt. there was a resident with his doctor. She showed him Reeces' thumbs & put them back to back. She said his were a 3+. I asked what was the highest & she said 4+.

No biggy, just never really thought about it. Clubbing having a "scale". From my understanding, clubbing is due from lack of O2. Or having to do with your lung function? Correct me if Im wrong, I've never really looked into it.

PS. We need an emotion showing clubbing..hehehe!<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0">

I think clubbing can be caused by a few things. The reason I say this is that my cousin who has no CF, but is a diabetic has much worse clubbing then I do. I was not aware of a scale for clubbing btw!

I have high lung functions and the clubbing on some of my fingers in pretty significant (rippling and rounding). I am curious about this, too!

I remember my doctors telling me they check clubbing out of curiosity more than anything else. While clubbing is used to indicate a heart or lung condition, it really can't be used to measure severity.

One thing that is interesting: I notice my toes are clubbed way more than my fingers are. I wonder if that's normal?
