Cluster of bruises at injection site for CFRD

Definately look into the BD mini pen needles, it takes a lot longer for your body to bruise using those. At least that was my experience. Also, I agree with everyone else to rotate spots as the day goes on. Unfortunately with injections you'll always be getting bruised. Just look out for pitting (areas that you inject a lot can get hard), because if you keep injecting in those spots the insulin won't work as well.

Have you ever looked into getting an insulin pump? Mine changed my life. I've had it for about a year and have maybe bruised twice. Plus it is ridiculously convenient. It may be worth some research.

**woot, woot*** for insulin pumps. Just got on mine last week and have started using it. It is going to take some time to get used to it, but so much better than sticking yourself multiple times a day.

I agree with using a smaller needle size but will put out an idea that no one has mentioned yet. How do you position the needle when you give the shots?

I am asking because when I was giving shots with regular syringes I was told to give the shots at a 90 degree angle. I had a LOT of bruising that way. I talked to my doc about it and he said for my size I should try positioning the needle at roughly a 45 degree angle. The angle the needle was at seemed to be my issue. I just wanted to put it out there in case it was not something you had thought of or tried. It may help - I got the bruises regardless of site rotation or needle size when I was first diagnosed and giving shots.
