coffee pot question

<div class="FTQUOTE"><begin quote>Wow, I have had a Tassimo coffee brewer for about 3 years now, I leave water in the resevoir for use all day long. I never thought of this as a gross thing to do.</end quote>
<br />I don't think that's gross either to put water in it for several uses (I assume that's another single-use pot?) and then dump it out later on in the day. It would be gross to chronically leave water in it all day, all night, without ever cleaning it... I assume that's what most people would think as well. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

If we are going to worry about coffee from a vending machine, we need to worry about restaurant coffee. And restaurant food, because who knows if it's been near pots of water. And how far will we take it? Again, just my opinion... but something to think about...

Ooh, maybe that came out wrong! We do that at our house...fill the reservoir and use from it for the morning as we make cups of coffee. Then when we are finished with it for the morning it gets cleaned out. The water does not sit for days. That is what I find gross. Not what you guys are doing! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> Sorry for the confusion!

I completely agree with Harriet..I think all of this can be taken too far. If we thought about it too much we would never eat at a restaurant, sleep at a hotel, or for that matter leave our homes!

Hubby makes coffee each morning and adds only the water he needs to make his coffee. I am a germ freak.... I don't let water stand anywhere in the house... kitchen or bathrooms. I have even been known to change everyones glass 1/2 way through the day. Just don't trust standing water. I have PA and I really don't care for it at all (especially right now as they found it in my nose-- again). A lot of my extended family thinks I am fanatical and extreme.... oh, well.

Wait, are you suggesting that PA can come from our coffee pots?

I'm learning here..because honestly I have no idea where I contracted PA from.

PA is everywhere. I'd say the odds of getting it from a well-maintained coffee pot are really, really remote though.

eta> You drink PA every day in your public drinking water or well water and bathe in it- it lives IN the water. It is in the dirt outside. 'Standing water' is considered a concern, but IMO there is a difference between stagnant ponds and dirty puddles and a clean glass of water or a covered, clean coffee pot. In the world of CF... we can find threats everywhere and in everything we do if we look hard enough.

*disclaimer: yes, all this is my opinion and won't be shared by all.*
