Colds and congestion??

I'm the mom to two Cfers my oldest is 2 1/2 and my youngest is 1. Right now it seems that both are kinda of getting congested. I called their CF clinic and they told me to just just watch them for a couple of days and see what h happens.

So my question is....
Does anyone use or do anything for their Cfers to help with congestion? I know that because of their ages there isn't much meds they can use. But I did see that " Little Remedies " has some nose drops that can be used on ages 2 to 12. So if anyone can help with suggestion that would be great.

UGH , so sorry both your little ones are getting sick. I would increase your airway clearance to 4 times a day (I know it's so hard to get it in, but it does help). When I'm getting sick the albuterol alone makes a big difference in keeping it from going deep into my lungs.

I think that a saline nose drop is a good idea, but I would definitely NOT use a cough or cold med with any decongestant in it. Our CF center said that it was a big no-no for kids with CF because it thickens their mucus even more.

I hope they get through this with no issues.

You can use saline drops...it helps when sucking out the nose (if they will let you!). That is what we had done in the recent past with our now 16 month old.
She has also been on nasal sprays (atrovent and nasacort)...I think that would be something for long term congestion though.
Hope this helps! We are all so congested right now too!

helpful advice!

Saline spray, baths, and steaming my daughter always helped. When she was a bay I would read books and/or bring in toys to the bathroom while I steamed her. Hope this info is helpful!
