to my knowledge dh is dear husband. i asked the same question so don't feel stupid! my doc wouldn't let me do inhaled colistin while i was pregnant, i dont really know why, but i think she wasn't sure if it was safe (wish she had done a little homework on it, but oh well). while i was pregnant i was on the min amount of drugs. not antibiotics, but that would explain why i wound up with 3 rounds of iv's. what a pain in the butt. inhaled tobi gives me awful awful headaches so that was out of the question for me. so we had to go straight to the iv form of tobi and fortaz. i had aj on may 28th and he passed his hearing test which made me jump for joy cause i would have been so crushed if he hadn't. good luck though!

Kristen,

You know what's funny is that most doctors have to look up drug informationn in books and other resources for their patients. Sometimes they have just general drug books and other times they use more updated things like PDA programs that they carry around with them. Either way, they can't remember all the drugs off the top of their heads, especially the ones that they don't see very often (like those that us with CF are on). My OB had to look up some of my meds to find out their safety, but my CF doctor was really the one who already knew everything since they see a lot of pregnant CFers nowadays!

Hi there,
I really hope you don't mind me getting in touch with you all, it's just I really need some advice and reassurance. My name is Stephanie and I don't have CF but was told about this forum as it held information that would be relevant to me. I have Bronchiectasis and am being treated for the Pseudomonas virus with nebulised (200millionunits) Colomycin (Colistin) permanently twice a day.
Back in 2007 my partner and I had our first child, a baby girl, but she tragically passed away at 8 weeks old due to a Diaphragmatic Hernia. I wasn't taking Colomycin during the pregnancy and was reassured that her problems had absolutely nothing to do with my health issues.
It's been 2 years and my partner and I are desperate to have another child, however I'm very worried that the Colomycin may cause the unborn child harm. The Doctors are all rather vague about it but say it's my call but I must be prepared for the fact it may cause foetal toxicity. The thing is if the Colomycin is nebulised, wouldn't this reduce the risk of any problems?
Basically, I just wanted to know if you wouldn't mind telling me your experiences with Colomycin and medication during pregnancy? Thank you so much! I just really need some sort of reassurance as I feel so scared and don't want to lose another child.
Kind Regards and Many Thanks
