Colistin

Hey all.

So the docs took me off Tobi (ears rang a little) about 2 months ago and I started Colistin with the E Flow. From the start I noticed no difference with this drug as far as breathing better or anything. I ALWAYS noticed a difference with Tobi. Now the funny thing is that I have only been mildly sick about 2-3 times since July 06 and everytime I was either on Tobi or started it the minute I felt sick. On Tobi the sickness never went into my chest. NOW I just got a good bug a few days ago and the first place it hit my was my chest and it's just not leaving and I have been on Colistin for 3 WEEKS now. So, anyone else have this issue where Colistin didn't seem to do anything for them??? Thanks for any advice people <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

I am thinking of just swtiching back to Tobi (I have some left over) tonight, before I ask my doc so this infection doesn't get worse. My ears rang some at the end of the last Tobi cycle, but that was the first time in the 10 years, or whatever, I have been on Tobi.

Colistin has always worked for me. My only small bit of advice would be... if you must start the Tobi again before asking your doc, do it with the knowledge that you may lose more hearing. It's a risk you have to be willing to take. But as long as you're aware of that and willing to jump into it, then go for it.

Hey Emily...Thanks for the reply.

It's so frustrating to take a drug like Colisin that requires SO MUCH maintainence and feel that it doesn't even work. I don't think I lost hearing. It just rang a bit then went away after about 30 min. I dunno...*shrugs* I'm so worried that I'm going to get worse and I CANNOT go get IV's right now. I am teaching and January is H#LL month.

yeah severe chest tightness couldn't catch my breath, I used to have to do 2 doses of albuterol before it would pass.
