I agree! Don't force yourself to do something you know will hurt you, like being around second hand smoke.
I am at university right now, and I was worried about that too. But I made friends, who now know about my situation, so they're careful around me, and know not to do anything that could hurt me. Having friends who know about your situation helps.
As for college life, there are activities that don't involve risking your health and that can be fun, like movies on campus, scavenger hunts, special galas, plays, debates... You just have to inform yourself, and I'm sure you can find a way to have fun without risking your health.
