I know I'm a little late but this may come in handy for future semesters. As someone above said, she needs to register her CF with the disability office and have her doctor write a note saying that sometimes absences due to hospitalization are necessary and need to be excused.
At my school, the disability office prints out a document that says this and makes my professor sign to agree to it. I meet with my professors at the beginning of each semester, explain my situation, why I may need extra absences, and they sign the document to agree that I won't be penalized because of it. That way when I may have to miss class later in the semester, I just need a doctors note saying I was in the hospital and I'm allowed to make everything up. She should look into if her school does this once she is actually registered with the disability office.
