Colonic Anyone? Colon Hydrotherapy

Hey anyone ever had a colonic?
Warning this might be gross to some of you...
Basically, it's like an enema but the water is massaged externally and therefore penetrates more deeply. I had one once ~10 years ago. I went in - swore I was 'empty' beforehand and couldn't believe what they got out of me. You wouldn't have believed the amount of gas (fermentation) and feces that came out. It replenishes the large intestine which is often dehydrated. Afterwards I used the bathroom and really old feces came out. It was such a mess of stuff I was so glad to get it out of me. I don't have many problems with my digestive system. I take 3 Ultrase MT20 with meals and have 1 bowel movement a day. No pains generally, pretty normal but I'm thinking I might do this again just seems like it would be good. Here's a site about it.

Anyone have any experience or interest in this?

I've always been kind of curious, quite honestly. But I don't imagine insurance covers it? How much does it cost? And how wide is whatever they put up there to hydrate you? I have a sensitive... exit hole that might produce some trouble if things are inserted into it. Heh.

I'm no colonic expert unfortunately I don't even know how much it costs. If you enter in google colonic and and the closest city to you you'll see multiple providers of this service whom you could call for a quote. In terms of diameter of the thing that enters your exit hole. Well first of all nothing goes in deep as far as I recall and I don't remember any pain (which trust me I would have if it was large or fast) so I would think it was small diameter or at least that they work you up to it. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable about the subject will comment.

They actually showed this proceedure on that Jack*ss show on M TV. It was pretty discusting to watch, but fascinating just the same. Its suppose to make you feel great!

Just curious Lauren, what/ who encouraged you to do this the first time? Its not something you just wake up and say "today I'm going for a colonic!"

I say if you are pretty darn regular like going three times or more a day you probably will not need a colonic. I think three times per day is pretty darn good according most nutritionist. Getting rid of your toxins daily are important especially if you have CF

My grandma took me for my first colonic when I was around 17 years old. I also meant to mention the mucus that came out was voluminous. If it did nothing else it made it so I never swallow that crap anymore. Although I realize, just as our lungs produce excess mucus, so do our intestines so this mucus could have been from the intestines not the mucus I ingested from not coughing it out. There is another post about colonics that I just discovered. "Colon irrigation"

My boyfriend went for one a few years back, and swore up and down that it was the best thing that happened to him. He said that so much stuff came out, and he felt a ton better afterwards. He even said that the old feces came out white. I wonder just how much I have inside of me because I'm not healthy like he, but with CF.
