Hi Littlewhippet,

I'm the 44 year old! My name is Tammy. Yes I have one of the mild mutations, but my other one is not so mild!!! I'm pretty stable with my lung disease now. I've had some problems over the last several years since my youngest was born, she will be 7 in Feb., but they are behind me.

I don't really work out now! I know I should, but it's hard to find the time. I do walk the kids to school so I get some exercise in there. I'm always busy around the house too doing chores. I have my treadmill upstairs in our bedroom and I saw last week in the paper where the best time to work out is around 4-5pm. They did PFT's on people and found that they had the highest numbers during that time of day. So I think I'm going to jump on my treadmill now and watch Oprah!!! Anyways, my kids really keep me active since they are still so young! Who would have ever thought I would have children at such an "old" age. I was already married when my mom was 44!!!

I also try different supplements to try to find things to keep me healthy. My latest one that I just added a couple of weeks ago is Alpha Lipoic Acid. I noticed a difference right away. I have so much more energy. I take 200mg/day. I've also started and stopped many other things because they didn't do anything or did something bad!!!

Sorry, but I've got to run and comb Annie's hair!!!

hi littlewhippet.

i guess she died from respiratory failure, was waiting for a Tx but it didnt come through in time. her health was very good when she got pregnant and fine till the end of the pregnancy when she had a massive drop in lung function. i dont know if she had diabetes.
dont worry about asking, its important to know all possible eventualities to make an informed decision <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

On the subjec ton pregnancy, my partner and I have discussed it and decided that we won't have kids unless I get pregnant unintentionally. The risk of death is too high for me - I'd love to have his baby, but as he put it - He'd rather have a healthy wife than a motherless child. that's our choice, but if anyone out there is thinking of getting pregnant, look after yourselves and get plenty of rest and good food into you!
we feel that we will foster later on - Plenty of abused children looking for caring and understanding people to look after them...

hello Littlewhippet,
I am replying to your message, cause you mention that you hope to see a cure in the next ten years. My doctor, A CF specialist in Boston, that is very involved in the ongoing research, has informed me that they have a coctail that doesn't "cure" CF but will stop it in it's tracks so the patients with CF will beable to live a long full life, without the disease progressing. I'm not sure how long it will be till the coctail is available, But it is something to look forward to,, knowing that it is just a matter of time.
