Compressor/Nebulizer Question

I checked the filter and I changed out the tubing when I changed the neb cups. We use separate neb cups for the tobi, pulmozyme and duoneb. All 3 had increased treatment times. I wash and boil the cups after each use.

Strange thing is that last evening, treatment times were back to normal. Didn't do anything differently than I had since changing the cups & tubing out last Wednesday. Could it be... Gremlins?!!! <img src="i/expressions/devil.gif" border="0">

Compressor/Nebulizer Question

One more thing to toss into the ring: around our house, it seems like humidity also affects nebulizer treatment times - when humidity gets high it seems like the medicines are slower and the tubing more prone to forming water droplets during treatments.

Well, the replacement compressor we got about two years ago has begun growling at me again. When I posted way back when I had to send it via the DME to Sunrise, wait three weeks to get a replacment. And apparently that's what we have to do again.

It gets really noisy, the fan rattles like it's going to get stuck on something. In fact the other day it completely stopped and I squirted it with some compressed air and it started again.

We have 2 compressors, this one and a pari proneb ultra II that we use while vesting in the family room. It's just frustating to have to have DME mail it in for us and then wait 2-3 weeks for a replacement. Granted it has a 5 year warranty, but seems like every year and a half or so this thing poops out. Sigh!

I'm running to my inlaws this afternoon to pick up a 16 year old Devilbiss Pulmoaid that we use from time to time with duoneb when we're visiting or at their lake home. Works like a charm and is very quiet -- got it from a cousin who apparently had issues with asthma as a small child. Why can't they make them like they used to?

After two and half weeks of dealing with the ancient compressor, I called the DME to check on the one they sent in... Oh yeah, they got it back LAST Friday and it's just been sitting on a table in their shop... "not sure why nobody called you, would you like us to deliver it to you". Wow, that'd be great, since it's a 20 minute drive to the south side of town. Until he told me they couldn't get it to me til next week. Hello?

So I trekked down there after my lunch hour and the customer service reps as usual suddenly scattered, so I had to wait 15 minutes just to get waited on for them to retrieve the box. Ugh! Why do they have to make things so darned difficult? So this morning I beat ds and used his new compressor. Sooo quiet (for now), not rattling, no having to turn the tv volume wayyyy up.

I also checked out their women's boutique while I was down there and got a present for a friend of mine, whose mom was undergoing treatment for inflammatory breast cancer last year. It's a glitzy black t-shirt with a pink ribbon sparkly ribbon and the words "save the ta-tas" on the front. She thought it was a hoot!
