Confused about Flovent.....

My daughter takes 2 puffs of Flovent twice a day, singulair at night. She has asthma and allergies. She was just diagnosed with Atypical Cf, she is only presenting lung problems, I just found out she has staph. She has been on the flovent since Mar. and her breathing has improved, (well she doesnt wheeze constantly anymore.) but she has grown beautifully, in weight and height, so I dont think you should worry about it stunting growth. Like I said it has helped my daughter. She is 5.

I am shocked at all the trouble people are having getting their kids tested, what the hell is the difference if they test for 30 or 1500 mutations!!??? Money? thats what insurance is for! Why do some Drs give some people such a hard time, My god these are kids where talking about! You dont know how mad this gets me!

Well it's great to know that other children are doing well on the Flovent. I have to admit that it is helping. He's not coughing as long in the morning and throughout the day. I just don't think's it so easy to put an Asthma diagnosis though because of the other problems.

Alyssa-When I first pushed for the genetic test because of the 3 fail sweat test they were like, ya we were going to do that next. Then it became a matter of miscommunication between me, my son's Ped and Children's (where the genetic testing was being done.) Finally after several phone calls on my part pushing for an Ambry full panel a genetic counselor called me and explained that it wasn't necessary. She stated the test they were running accounts for 91% of all CF causes for male caucasians. She said if the sweat test came back elevated they would then do further genetic testing. Well....the sweat test didn't work and they are acting like because he passed the 70-gene test all is fine. That's where I'm at. His main Ped has been off for the last 2 months so Jason has seen 3 different doctors who don't know what the crap to do.

I'm really looking forward to meeting with the new doctor....

Thanks again, this site has been the only place for me to vent and get real advice.
