Confused and Scared

Just a reminder to people ~ unless your insurance requires a referral to see someone besides the Primary Care Doctor.....you can usually contact a CF Center directly & ask them to do the testing that your doctor is refusing!

Thank you all so much for all the information and support. I did sit down to try to write all of the things I could think of, but thought maybe I could get copies of his medical records. I called all of the doctors offices yesterday and to my suprise they all gave me a copy. I was a little stunned with what I found. He has been to the doctor 34 times since birth that required antibiotics.

Most of the illnesses were URIs and ear infections. He has had RSV twice and brochial pnemonia once, and of coarse 3 pneumonias.

Is it just me or does that seem like alot? 9 illnesses before he was a year old. This doesn't count every day colds or the flu. Just the more significant stuff.

We still have not gotten any test results back. I'm afraid that since its already Thursday, they won't call until next week. I don't know how much more waiting I can do. My nerves are shot.

Again thank you all so much for letting me vent.

I may have mentioned this before, but after clinic appointments, I make a written request to the release of information department and request doctor's notes, lab and culture results, xray reports.... So if you have a specific date when a test was conducted, I imagine you could do the same. It is my understanding thought that the genetic testing that was sent out, can sometimes take 4-6 weeks.

The biggy for us is the culture results. The nurse would call us and say he was fine, only to find out he was growing something that the local clinic didn't necessarily think was a concern, but his primary doctor at the CF clinic in the City DID think was an issue.
