no other studies are going to be more thorough than testing that has already been done.

For colistin and tobra studies, they measured sputum concentration with eFlow administration and traditional neb administration. They also measured plasma levels.

I would be interested in what other studies these doctors are looking to see. In fact, you should ask them. What else could possibly be measured to demonstrate equivalence between traditional nebs and the eFlow. Let us know what they say.

in terms of studies being done, no one else is going to fund studies other than the manufacturer of the eFlow. medication development isn't a charitable adventure, it's a for profit effort. (argue about the system all you want.... i'm just talking about what's going on right now). the CFF isn't going to fund it if they know they can get a company to pay. why would they? wouldn't you want your donated dollars going to new drug development that wouldn't otherwise occur without the funding instead of a drug delivery device that a company will fit the bill for?

Even Dr. Moss who is doing NAC studies has a financial stake in his tests.

I wish i could talk to these doctors in person - I am just itching to poke holes in their arguments.

And don't be fooled - physicians aren't right 100% of the time. they're not gods. so just because a physician says something doesn't mean it's correct or accurate. yup, it's scary to come to this realization - so many people find so much comfort in blind trust of their doctors. but the sooner you realize that this is the case, and docs are only human, the sooner you can be proactive about your care.

I really don't consider listening to other opinions and asking informed questions moving in blind faith. I like to get information from many sources before I purchase a product or make a change in therapy. I don't think that you can dispute that there is controversy about this particular topic and to try to find out as much as possible is just being responsible, not moving in blind faith. In fact, I plan on bringing the subject up with my regular CF doc. He may have a very different opinion. I also think that most of us on this site are well aware that docs are not infallible and that we all have to take charge of our own health. I doubt there are many on this site who put their docs on a pedestal. Actually, I have not met a doc yet who deserves that much praise.

Nicole,

The drug you refer to is called Aztreanam Lysine. Yes, it is for use with the e-flow. I am participating in the study and it is fabulous, so is the e-flow. When AL comes out, it will be prescribed with the e-flow. I am glad to hear another clinics opinion. Thanks!

Karen</end quote></div>

So, can you take the Aztreanam Lysine using other compressors too?? Some insurance companies will only cover one compressor every few years<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif" border="0">
