Some history...

Josh had been on tobra and ceftaz for two weeks at home when he realized it wasn't working. He got admitted, changed the ceftaz to imipenem and felt better after a week. Last week his pfts had increased 20 points (his year high) and stayed stable yesterday. Everyone was pleased and told Josh he could go home at the end of the week. By then he will have had more than three weeks of tobra and 10 days of imi.

This morning his Dr. said he sounds clear but expressed concern that the upper part of his lungs aren't moving air very well lately. He said he is dissatisfied with the pfts. They scheduled a re-try today to see "whether or not you can go home soon." HUH?

So, what is causing the problem of the upper lungs not moving air? After 3 weeks of ABX and with the highest pfts he's had in a while, it would seem that he is doing better.

Any advice?
