Hey Jane,<br>Hope He made it home for the weekend.. The Steriods sounds like a good idea.. I am still on them from my last admit since I am not feeling back to my normal.. only thing w/ that is I am eating way too much <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif" border="0"> After losing 12 lbs (I worked hard for that) I have put a good amount of it back on..<br>Take care <3 joni

YES, he is home and very glad to be.  They will only do 5 days of prednisone.  More would be ok, he could use the weight gain.

Actually, more is not better, as the weight prednisone adds is mostly water retention and not "real" weight gain. Not to mention the horrible side effects associated with long-term corticosteroid use, which include insulin resistance, personality changes, mood swings, joint pain (especially when tapering off), insomnia, hypomania, I could go on forever almost.

@Joni, when I started noticing increased appetite on steroids, that's when my blood sugars began going very high. You might want to have that checked.

I agree prednisone causes water retention but it does increase appetite as well which could increase fat gain assuming you are getting enough insulin. I know what Jane is saying though, I hate the side effects of prednisone, but love the energy and focus it gives me, so I always hate to lose those when I end my taper. It is a love/hate relationship.
