Hello, everyone,
Last week, I told the nutritionist that I wasn't getting enough milk using the pump to give Sam a calorie boost using a tablespoon of formula. That has been our recipe for helping him gain weight - one bottle of pumped milk with formula, miralax and salt, once a day, and breatfed all the other times. He did start on some rice formula and I have been putting his miralax and salt in that. I asked her to recommend a way to add calories. She thought and thought for a very long time. She went to her office to crunch numbers, and then she came back and recommended I add corn oil or canola oil to the apple sauce I use to give him his enzymes. I'm not really comfortable with this. Didn't I read that some of you use flax seed oil or coconut oil instead? Has anyone used it for a baby as young as 5 months? Did you add it to cereal or applesauce? He is gaining weight. He is at the 48th percentile and I want to push him to the 50th. I didn't start with the corn oil, but I did start putting a little dry formula in the applesauce, about a half teaspoon with each feeding so he can get iron.
Thanks,
