Cornstarch Powder

A friend of mine that has CF had said that her mother used cornstarch on her when she was younger... Johnson's makes a cornstarch powder... so I was wondering if that is okay to use with my son? He sweats a lot, so I figured it would help keep him a bit drier. I used a little on his diaper area earlier, but I of course don't want to use it if it is going to harm him, ya know?

I of course trust my friend, but I want to make sure that others agree it is okay as well- plus, I will just buy a box of cornstarch if the johnson's stuff isn't okay.

i don't see why not as long as its not medicated powder. just check the ingredients to make sure there is nothing weird in theie. if jhonson's make it too the they had to us it as a base and spruse it up for babys and elderly. powder although didn't help my son it just mixed with his sweat and caked up in his crevisis and other unamed areas. so be careful. switching to cloth diapers has been the most helpfull out of anything I could reccomend, and they aren't our parents generations diapers with pins and all anymore.may be something to look at too.

* the powder made his skin peel like it was drying out the area that weren't moist and pasting where it was.

Back when my son was born 9 years ago we were advised not to use any powders. The nurses in the NICU said it could be inhaled. And at that time we didn't know he had CF, this was just their normal advice to all parents. I would ask your cf clinic.
