Couch to 5K

Ok I just started the Couch to 5k program. Finished my first day and felt like crap!

My wife said I was very red, and my lips looked very white and thin.

I was wondering if this was an O2 thing. If so is there some place I can get a good Pulse Oximeter?

Thanks in advance!

Here's a link for some! My mother-in-law just sent this since my husband needs a new one.

I do C25K and it ROCKS! My husband (31 w/CF) uses the program on his iphone while cycling. He cycles because he is a former gymnast and his knees are terrible! I use it for running training and I did my first 5K in March.

You can do it! What's your latest PFT? Just curious as to how your lungs are doing. My husband's FEV%REF was 36% today and we are hoping it will increase with exercise. He's not listed for a transplant yet. There are some really inspiring people out there to follow. Check out these blogs if you haven't already:

Awesome! Thanks for the info!

My last PFT was around 85% and that was a few days after I posted that message. I just recently got on board with the whole keep myself healthy thing, as I would love to be around and able to DANCE with my daughters at their weddings.

Again thank you so much for the information!

Great job on the running! I started running back in Feb and feel that it has helped my lungs tremendously! My PCT's haven't increased (but they were in the mid 90's before I started) but I can feel the difference in my lungs...and I can feel the difference if I go for a few days without running too!

I would keep an eye on the suymptoms you are having-did you mention them to your CF doctor?

No I didn't even think to talk to my CF doc about it, because I had to stop after the first day. My ankles had started hurting really really bad. I attribute that to running in a pair of converse instead of waiting till I got some good running shoes, but I'm getting new shoes on Monday and plan start my running again.
