Coughing attack during exercise - TIPs wanted

My 14 year old is a competitive cheerleader, flyer and doing level 4 tumbling...she is strong and this does wonders for her lungs. Sometimes, however she will have a 15-20 minute coughing spell. Any suggestions on prevention or on reducing the time of the event.

What she does now is: stops, gets her Xopenex, gets water and waits it out. Any suggestions.

Have her try doing her Xopenex before she starts her exercise, that way her airways will be open to start with and it might help cut down on the coughing fits, that's what I did with softball and hockey.

Although coughing is actually good, because its clearing the air way, but 15-20 is a long time.
I know for me, I try to take short breaks when I can during exercise.
I also agree with taking some an inhaler prior can help.

well if you are having coughing during exercise only try checking, whether the environment around you is fresh and clean as it may only be the reason you having coughs.....

Other than taking an inhaler there isn't anything you can do. She is coughing becasue what she is doing is too strenuous.
