Coughing blood with High FEV?

So i'm pretty sure everyone with CF does this, but I just ended a 3 week treatment of Antibiotics yesterday and when I did my breathing test my FEV1 was 95% so I have really good lung functions. But a big rain happened today and it's been making me cough and have asthma attacks and hard coughing spells and i've been coughing up blood. Ranging from a tiny bit with mucus to nothing but bright red blood and this is the first time it's lasted for an' entire day. Not non-stop, but kinda coming and going. Does this happen to anyone else and how long does it usually last?

I have high fev and I occasionally will cough up blood. Mine usually lasts a day or so (two at the most).

Cough attacks and hard coughing do it for me, too!

When i had high pft's ( quite a few years back) I also coughed up blood and neevr knew why. I had problems coughing up blood after a long coughing spell, laying flat, around the time of my period ( certainly not a problem you will have....lol) and sometimes when i was sick. Since you said this is the first time you have coughed up this often in a day you might want to call the Dr. and make them aware of it. Sometimes after being on iv antitiobics you can have less mucus in your lungs which may expose a raw area just waiting to bleed. Hemoptysis happens for all kinds of reasons, the thing to remember that is most important is to notice if it is becoming more often and if the amount is larger than usual. These 2 can be indicators that its time to call the Dr.

As you can see from my signiture, I have a very high FEV, but also have asthma, and when I have a bad cough I also can cough blood (no more than a teaspoon). Having said that it's usually when I've got an infection. I think just coughing really hard can break a tiny blood vessel down there and cause a bleed, just as blowing your nose a bit hard can cause a nosebleed. At least the small ones are self limiting anyway even tho it's not very nice. Hope you're better soon x
