Tess,

You need to contact your doctor right away and some on this board would tell you to go the ER. I hope someone else posts cuz some have an "amount" forumula for when to call. I let docs know whenever it happens to me just to be safe. Don't be alarmed about it. You just don't want it to cause a problem with your breathing and you CAN'T ignore it. You need to know what is going on. It has happened to me and many on this board. You may need a supplement of vitamin K and you may have an infection of some sort brewing that needs attention. Keep us posted, stay calm and don't ignore it

I'm thinking it maybe sinus drainage because I've had a sinus infection I can't get rid of and have noticed blood when blowing my nose. And a friend of mine who had studied to be an EMT said blood from the lungs is pink and frothy, What I'm coughing is bright red. Though I'll let my docs know when I can.

Ya I go to the ER when I cough up blood (more than streaking). It can quickly snowball in quite a bit of blood...... which can ultimately lead to death if you asphyxiate due to lungs filling up with blood.

Others have different approaches they take, but my physician and I have agreed that the ER is the place for me to be in case I need to embolized. Even small amounts can get worse quickly....
