coughing up blood?

My son has coughed up blood in the past and while terribly unnerving, you do get used to it. Our doc also said a little blood is pretty normal now and then. If it happens several times a day or if it is a larger quantity, you should check with you doc.

<br />BTW- we kept track and realized Josh always coughs up blood with TOBI, usually after the third day.

As said above coughing up blood once in a while is normal, altho if im not feeling well and it continues my docs encourage me to call as it could be a sign of an infection.
Also,if you find yourself searching the web and not finding the answers you want just call your docs, and even if you do find answers online its always good to double check with your doctors anyways as you cant always believe all of what you read online.

We have also been there many times. Its deffidently something to call aboujt. Our doctor said if it gets to be an ounce then we can worry.

Just like everyone has stated so far, coughing up blood is normal for us. As far as the Cayston goes, I've been on it for a few months now. Do you take Albuterol, or any other brochodialator? It may help to try taking that before you do the Cayston because it will open up your airways and prevent some inflammation which can lead to hemoptysis.

Regardless, I would always err on the side of caution and if you feel that this could be correlated to the Cayston, call your doctor and speak to them about it. I had bad reactions to Tobi as well which is why I also got switched to Cayston. The only reaction I had was dry hacking cough after my first few puffs, but it cleared up once I began doing the Albuterol first. Feel free to PM me if you like.

soo you were coughing up blood..well i cough up blood as well...its sometimes pretty consistent...when i first coughed blood up..it filled my toilet and quiet a few in the trash can up...so i went to the ER..well it so happened to be that i had cyst on my lungs and from having coughing spells i busted them open..they heal up but as for me..i have MRSA and its very hard for my infections to go away..also i have cfrd (cystic fibrosis related diabetes)..i pray that its nothing serious for you and im sorry you are having to go thru with this but each day you will learn more and more about it and it does become easier to understand CF..depending on your severity you will go through some ROUGH times..but with faith and good doctors you will get thru it...i'll keep you in my prayers..
