Sheesh. Frustrating indeed!! We do manual CPT twice daily...she's very tolerant. No vest yet as her doctor believes they are interchangeable at this point - providing you are using proper technique. We will purchase a vest in the near future...

My son is 16 and for much of his life he rarely coughed and yet he has been infected with pseudomonas and a mycobacteria. He still doesn't cough that much. Doctors sometimes tell me it because his mucus is so thick, so that's not a good thing. This may not be the case with your daughter though. If there is mucus in her lungs they should be able to see it on chest x-rays or CT scans.

DS' rarely coughs -- only when he's sick. When culturing pseudo in the past, he never had symptoms, so it was a surprise. His doctor prefers there be no cough, so if he has one, means there's something going on. He's had xrays, cts and lung scans which have been clear.

my daughter has been on pulmozyme since she was 3 weeks old, but she doesnt cough unless she is becoming sick or she has mucus plugs. i think every cf child is so different and their environment has a big impact on how much they cough, etc..
