coughingup blood?

'04 was my first and worst. a few days after the coachella festival, on cinco de mayo to be exact, i burst a blood vessel in my lungs and coughed up close to a cup of blood between the time it started and the time i got to the e.r., which is right across the street. having the sensation of what feels like a sprinkler going off inside your lungs is so not cool! what is even worse is having your father running naked down the stairs that you are sitting as you are screaming for help. i guess i was fortunate that he was staying at my place that night, though. we all figure it was from inhaling so much dust over that festival weekend. i now bring a bandanna to cover my face up while walking around the grounds. since then i have only had some light streaking once or twice.

I'm sorry robert- it is certainly freaky the first time (and I still hate it), but you are in the best place for it to happen (still a bummer, but a good thing). My doctor always has me stop nebs and the vest for a day or so, and let wherever is bleeding heal up, if it's more than streaking. Hang in there. Try to think of it as dr. ordered "free pass" from nebs and vest. We don't get many of those . Let us know how you are doing.

Andrew's first bleed happened at home a few months back. He is ten and it really scared him. He said the same thing...he could feel it "gurgling" in his chest, and I could hear it, too.

Our doc did the same thing everyone else's has done...stopped cpt/nebs for a few days. We are down to 3% hypertonic now because she thinks the bleeds were caused by the 7%. Anyway, yes, it is frustrating to be so worried by something and have your nurses seem nonchalant about it. That has happened to us when we lived in Michigan. Hang in there. It sounds like your doctor is doing the best for you and I hope you feel better soon. Can you try to drink some ice water to clear your throat? Get plenty of rest and keep us posted on how you are feeling!
