So DS's tummy started acting up and long story short, ended in ER yesterday after consulting on call GI again to assure no obstruction. It wasn't thank God, but a long day. But still some "fun" with it all. First, the "mom" joke: As the nurse practitioner was asking DS some questions about what was going on she said "are you farting a lot." My eyes nearly popped out of my head as I gave her the "what the he!! are you thinking" look. As he said, "what's that," she realized what she had done and was trying to suppress her laugh as she looked at me apologetically and I too tried to keep a straight face as I said nonchalantly "are you passing gas a lot?" Not that DS doesn't have that little boy fascination with it....because he then proceeded to tell her that yeah, and it was extremely funny when he pass gas in mommy's face the night before when I bent his legs...he just didn't know the word! Let's hope he still doesn't.
The doctor had to check his bottom too to make sure there wasn't something stuck at the end in that void, which he is very sensitive too and was excruciating for him. About 30 minutes later when he was asking why everything took so long, etc. we explained that's how ER works and if possible we try not to have to go to the ER, but we do if we have to, and that it's a pain in the butt, though. And he started laughing and pointed to his sore bum and said "yeah, it IS a PAIN in the BUTT."
Three hours later after he did an amazing job of being pleasant, he decided to play "Bop it" which was a new toy he got for his birthday that requires you to "bop" a button, twist a button, pull a button, with mommy...except I hadn't brought the toy. Overall he was great though!
