This is exactly what Andrew goes through when he is on prednisone. Mostly happy to sad, though. Not alot of anger. Is she on it right now?

Thank you all so much for the responses!

Courtney is not on any new meds, no prednisone right now. She was on Augmentin last week for a sinus infection, but she has taken that many times before.

She claims to have no excessive thirst or need to pee although she did get up in the middle of the night and drink a huge glass of water which is unlike her.

As a mom my first response is "OF COURSE SHE IS NOT PREGNANT" but I try not to be a "not my kid" mom. I would say I am 95% sure it is not pregnancy, but I will sit her down and have another talk with her about that! She is not on birth control, but her older sister is. I have noticed Lauren gets more emotional now that she is on the pill!

I guess it is time to recheck her glucose levels. I pray everyday she does not get CFRD! How in the world do you get all those calories in your body while having to watch carbs, sugars, etc!

Thank you all again!

My only thought is that when I'm depressed (or anxious about something) I eat a lot--especially the "comfort" foods. I bet I gained 5 lbs just during election week!

Some of this could be normal, teen aged mood swings too?

As for CFRD, often-times they have you eat like you did before the diagnosis, but off-set the sugar intake with insulin.

Keep us posted!

Hmmm, all I can add is that that sounds like me when my sugars are out of whack too. When my sugars are getting too low, often I either am in a goofy, feel good mood or else I am...er...grumpy, snappish and difficult to be around. It varies...and having low blood sugars were my first sign of CFRD. Sorry- I hope that's not it either.

Oh, and I spoke to someone the other day who has a son recently diagnosed with Type I diabetes, and it sounds like they do us the same way they do growing kids with diabetes (at least type I)- eat and compensate with insulin, but try to avoid the really big gut load of sugar foods <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0"> .
