cracked tooth

I found out that I have a cracked molar that needs to be crowned. It's a total bummer, especially since he told me there was a chance I would need a root canal done (depending on how far down the tooth had cracked). The REALLY bummer part is that my first appt is Valentines Day! At 6:30pm! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif" border="0">

I think I'm ok with having the procedure done, but I've been starting to worry about the chance of infection associated with the procedure itself. Has anyone else had crowns done, and any bad side affects?

<EM>Hi Barb,Brady actually had a crown done back in March of 2005. They had to take out 2 teeth and they put a crown on one. He did good, no problems. They blame his pediasure on the teeth removals because of all the sugar, they advise to rinse after drinking that high calorie stuff. I've had two crowns done. I had to have the two teeth root cannaled, and then they put crowns on them. The teeth were infected before they put crowns on them, so the dentist put me on a prescription for amoxicylin, and then fixed the teeth up once the infection was gone. I didn't ahve a problem with infection after that.

Hi Angie, I don't know that I remember seeing you at clinic? Was it at the Uof M clinic that you saw me? Regardless, my health has been pretty good, so no, no admit for me. I am happy that my weight is starting to get back up there - my skinny pants don't fit so good anymore <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Anyway, thanks for the feedback. I have a tendancy to worry about nothing sometimes.
