This was one of Monique's favourite personalities, she's whatched all his programs on TV. She's going to be really disappointed.

Poor guy, he was still so young. At least he was doing what he loves best.

Very sad what happened to Steve. I loved watching Croc Hunters!! I hope that the message of animal conservation continues to get out there to the world. What a great guy he was and will surely be missed!!

I was flipping thru channels this morning and saw it on msnbc, i coudnt believe it. I was more surprised when they finally said it was by a stingray. I immediately expected to hear a crocodile went nuts on him or something . What sad news! I loved his show ! RIP Steve

I hate that this happened also. I read about it this morning when I first got online. A bit of a stunner.

Diane~ it is odd that you mentioned thinking it was due to a crocodile. I told my mom and step bro and their first questions were ... did a crocodile get him?

This broke my heart when I saw it posted on MSN. Everytime  I
think about it, it makes me so sad for him and his family. All I
have been telling my BF, is that this incident throws the notion
that you never know when you're going to go in my face again. Sure
he played with deadly animals, but hey...I never thought one would
kill him...he was seemingly "invincible".  So sad...

It's a big shock here in Aus, was fortunate enough to see him do his show at the Australia Zoo a coupla times, a sure fire entertainer and an icon...

I think most people thought that oneday his passion will catch him out, but no-one saw such a tragic and bizarre end coming...

The sad part is his kids, especially his young boy, he will never know his dad, Steve irwan adored his kids more than nature..

RIP

Pete

I agree, Pete. I met Steve and his wife a few times when I was younger and he wasn't famous yet. They were both friendly, kind, down-to-earth people who cared so much about the people and world around them.

I saw his little girl interviewd on animal planet-omg she is too cute. What a doll. So sad-I think alot of people have this special place is their heart for him-I've come across so many people that were really upset to hear this. I think b/c when you see someone that is an advocate for such a good cause, like animal conservation, you appreciate people like that. I was thinking there's alot of Autralian cfers around here-what't the response down in Autralia to all this?
