Cromolyn Sodium

So, I've been taking albuterol and cromolyn sodium together for quite a while and have done well with it.

I went to refill it and they told me it has been discontinued. My doctor switched me to DuoNeb and I've gone from being productive in my cough to totally dry. I don't feel bad at all and I'm exercising fine, but I just don't produce any mucus anymore, which has me worried. I have PFTs next week, so I guess I'll know how I'm doing then.

Amy, I know you use cromolyn.....what are you taking now? Any suggestions on a medsimilar in action to cromolyn sodium?

Thanks.

Ya I'm definitely still taking cromolyn sodium now.....

I just received a shipment a few weeks back.

i remembered when they discontinued it for a little bit back in 2008 and i definitely noticed the difference!

Sometimes pharmacies confuse cromolyn sodium for nasal spray with the kind that we inhale.

Give Teva Pharmaceuticals a call and see what the status is (215) 591-8912. Also, call the University of Minnesota CF Center and see what they know - they are some of the biggest users of the drug in the country, so I would imagine they're up to speed on all the info.

Good luck and keep us posted!

Sorry to hear you're having trouble!

I also use cromolyn sodium along with my albuterol every treatment. I just got a month worth last week Friday and my pharmacy didn't mention anything about it being discontinued. Hope you find out what is going on. I notice a BIG difference when I skip a treatment or anything like that.
Good Luck...
