OK, I'm going to new-mom devil's advocate here for a second - while I would definitely have the CF doc talk to the ped first and get them on the same page, if my pediatrician was concerned about my baby's brain, which is the underlying concern when you're talking about head size and about the skull fusing, etc., I would lean towards more diagnostics and more exploration and more discussion, not less. Our CF clinic tends to see everything as a function of CF - our pediatrician looks for other issues and in my experience, at least with the great pediatrician that we have, he tends to look more at the whole baby, and find explanations and issues that are not CF related more readily than the CF team. Just some thoughts, I wish you the best.

I don't have any experience with this as related to CF, but one of our boys had to have a CT scan as an infant due to some concerns about his head size. There was no sedation involved, at least for him. He later had to have an MRI and they did put him to sleep for that. But the CT scan was not really a big ordeal at all. I think he was about 13 months old when we had it done and he did fine--no fussing, just laid there and was really interested in the lights and the machine. Just wanted to let you know that it is not a bad procedure to have to go through.

Ok they finally got back to us regarding the results and thank god they said everything looks fine. They want to do another one in July to make sure she is growing. Just waiting for the cultures to come back is stressful enough that I hate having to now wait on more tests for growth. She was alittle behind in growth and motor skills due to staying in the hospital for 6mo after her birth but now the physical therapist says she is at age level for all that and is on target so they don't need to see her now. I think she looks perfect but I guess its all about percentages.
