CT scan...with/without contrast??

I have had both. I had the contrast when they were looking for something during a specific troublesome time. Just a comparison type scan I didnt get the contrast.

DS has had regular CT scans and then he's had something to get a clear picture of the small airways in which he nebbed a radioactive isotope and then they scanned his airways. It was done at a children's hospital and the pictures were amazing. This was done a year or so ago when he was 4.

Thanks for the info. I really want one with contrast as I really want everything to be seen clearly. But his regular CF doc says no. Have you been able to see the small airways and any signs of bronchiestesis without the contrast?

The radiologist and cf doctor reviewed the other CT scans and indicated they were fine -- airways were clear, no signs of bronchiestesis, etc.

I myself couldn't make heads or tails out of the images, but on the other scan, it was amazing.
