My daughter's nutritionist recommended culturelle(a probiotic) for my daughter's digestion. Where is the best/cheapest place to get it? It is more expensive than what i am giving her now which is rhino-acidophilus for children which I get a huge bottle(120 chewables) for$15. online it looks like culturelle is around 20-30 dollars for 30 pills. Seems like a big cost difference. Is it that much better? Any experience with this is appreciated.

I just bought it for the first time last week at CVS pharmacy. It was over the counter. The GI doctor also said you can buy it at Walgreens but I wasn't able to find it there. This GI doctor said that most probotics do not have active cultures when the labs look at the amount of live bacteria. They are already dead. She said that tests show that Culturelle is one probotic that the bacteria is actually living. So I thought the same thing about the cost, but I guess the other probotics are useless if the bacteria is dead.

We used Culterelle for quite some time but swich brands (Yarrow makes some good ones...also refridgerate to help them last longer). Live cultures are what you are really looking for like another poster mentioned. Take a 1/2 hour befoer eating for best absorption (this is when tummy acid is low and more will make it to intestines). I give them theirs first thing in AM while they wait for breakfast.

Sweet, it is a great preventative, keeps the bacteria levels balanced in the gut and keeps inflammation down (which will aid in nutrient absorption). Gut and lung health are interrelated and it is a great daily supplement for health.

I have some studies and resources listed on my site (below) that explains more indepth if you're interested.

Thanks for the info. I ordered the culturelle from drugstore.com. It was 19.99 for a bottle of 30 caps. I ordered a couple bottles and got free shipping. I figure I'ld give it a go and see if it helps.

Thanks again

Does anyone know about the dosing for that?

Does is come in a form that I could mix in with something?

Not to hijack but I've also heard about Florastor but I haven't given either to Eli yet.

Thanks!
