Culturing both PA and MRSA but only treating one prophylactically

I began culturing MRSA 2 years ago. I had been on Tobi for years but found around this time that Tobi wasn't doing much anymore. We changed from Tobi to Colistan. This treats my PA (for which I now have 4 versions of!). There is no antiobiotic that I can take prophylactically for MRSA bc I am resistant to Bactrim.

I feel like every time I start Colistan the MRSA gains an upper hand. I end up on IVs.

What should I do?

Is anyone out there in a similar situation culturing PA and MRSA? How do you treat them prophylactically?

I culture both and often find the same thing--when one is treated, the other one flares up. I also can't take Bactrim since I'm allergic.

I take Tobi month on/off but don't do anything for MRSA on a regular basis. We just treat it when it's symptomatic, which is sometimes almost constantly, sometimes not so bad.

Have you tried taking Zyvox? So far, I've always been able to get away with treating MRSA with pills. Doxycycline sometimes works, but oral Zyvox always has, and it really hasn't had serious side effects for me.

This doesn't answer your question, but I'm allergic to Bactrim too...is that just a coincidence or is that pretty common in the CF community.
