Ugh, I had something similar a while back... it was so real, too. I woke up and practically passed out because I felt so light headed.
I read a while back that there was a study done regarding dreams. They theorized that dreams prepare you for bad events... which is why you frequently have dreams of people chasing you, falling, etc. They are "training" for your mind, in case those events really happen. I guess it makes sense then, that CFers would dream about not being able to breathe. I'm not dismissing your dreams, just offering another idea. What's concerning though is how you feel when you wake up... you should certainly mention this to your doc, dreams or no dreams.
One last idea, could the dreams be cause by any new meds you are taking? Some things I've been on in the past have caused very vivid dreams.
I hope you can figure out what's going on. Feel better!
