Daily Symptoms of CF

There's a good chance his enzyme or maybe dosing needs to be increased. I increased my enzyme intake over 20 years or so and now am way over the recommended dose limit, but it works for me. Any less and I have problems. He should talk to his doc or a GI specialist about it. Were his surgeries more GI based? Sounds like his lungs are pretty healthy.

We do have stinky farts, but I believe foods can also play a role. I actually stopped eating mammals about 12 years ago, then cut out poultry 10 years ago. I notice when I'm in the shared office bathroom I'll hear some "normal" dudes sitting on the bowel making all kinds of explosive gaseous noises. I don't usually have that issue often, unusual given my enzyme needs. I think our bodies can digest foods easier than other foods, while calorie intake is important, I also think it's important to have a well-balanced diet even more-so than non-CF people. And beef and beef-jerky 3-times a day does not sound like something a GI system handles easily. He's probably not absorbing a large amount of the calories he takes in. He should be talking to his clinic dietician if he has one.

Thanks for the info everyone! To answer some of the questions:

He is currently on Creon, but is gas is constant, night and day.
He has had dozens of surgeries most of which were in/with his bowels. I know he is missing a good chunk of his small intestine, cant remember how much.
He consumes roughly 8-11k calories a day, his weight give me nightmares. He's 5'9" in 130-140s. With my nagging he's gotten his weigh up to the highest its ever been at 154. It goes up and down when work kicks his butt. But I'm trying to keep him more regular with his eating habits.
He goes for his 3mo check up in a few weeks. I'm going to take all these suggestions and info to his MD's see if they have any suggestions.

Thank you so much again.
