dark circles under eyes

I keep the cosmetic industry in business because of my dark circles. I didn't have them until about age 15.

I've heard they can be from allergies. But I think mine are probably just my pigmentation. My skin is so pale, and skin around the eyes is very very thin, so I bet you can just see my blood vessels. Although the coloring is more orange. And it's on my eyelids as well. Looks like a big full orange circle around both my eyes.

Yey for makeup. I wish I didn't have to wear it, but at least at my job, I have to look a certain way I feel.

Check with your doctor about MILK allergies -- I know they can cause dark circles under the eyes. My friend was told by an ENT to take her boys off at a young age (maybe 3-5 years old) and she did. They grew out of the allergy and are now able to drink milk if they want to. They are 17 & 20 years old now.

My daughter just started to look pale and have dark circles under her eyes this week. My husband says she look sick. She has never had a sinus infection. She has not coughed this week or have a runny nose. It is possible that this is a sinus infection or lung infection without any symptoms?
Sharon, mom of Sophia, 5 and Jack, 3 both with cf

Allergic shiners!!!!!!
That's what the allergist usually refer to them as. Josh and I have them; his are most noticeable when he doesn't feel well. With every sinus infection his pedi notices the eyes as includes it with the symptoms. Shiners are common in people with allergies and asthma problems. That would make it fit a CF profile almost by default.

Happy New Year and lest stay as well as we can!!!!!

thanks everyone for your replies. I'm not sure whether I feel better knowing that everyone has them, or worse knowing that they mean an infection, allergies or just something wrong. I will be printing this thread and bringing it to our next clinic visit. For now, we are watching carefully. There is a runny nose lately too, and a bit of a rattle, so we will probably get in tomorrow to let the ped. have a listen to the lungs. I am glad to know what to look for, since Emily isn't one to act "sick" even when somethings brewing. Thanks again for your input - Sharon, let me know how Sophia's doing!
