Day off

They way our company has structured time off is that we have "choice time"...you use choice time for sick days, vacation, or any other reason you need to take off. I get 17 choice time days/year.

Usually I will take a half day off (of choice time) to go to my clinic/dr appointments. I usually try to schedule them in the afternoon, so I can work in the morning and then leave around lunch time to go to the dr...and so I don't use an entire day. (granted, my dr is only about an hour away from where I work)

my work is great - I don't work "hours" per se. as long as I get done what I need to get done for my job, I'm OK.

So if I need a 1/2 day to go to my clinic, I'll do more work later on that evening or early one morning or both. I feel so grateful to have that type of flexibility.

That was one of the reasons I chose my job - especially this past year dealing with DVT's, hemoptysis, horrendous allergies, etc I had to go to numerous doc visits. But I got the work done that needed to be done despite all the health stuff going on.

My motivation for my advanced degree was to have more job choices - hoping to find jobs that would fit my ever-evolving disease.
