Delayed Vaccination Schedule

We have not vaccinated any of our children since 1990. Until Zoe was diagnosed. Her pediatrician and I worked out a very slow, one at a time, schedule for a few of the vaccines that we felt she might be exposed to at the large children's clinic she goes to so often & the hospital. We didn't start them until she was 18 months old and like I said, we have only done a few that we felt would be extremely detrimental to her with her cf. So, to answer your question, yes, you can set up any type of schedule you want. Like someone else said, if your doc. doesn't want to work with you on this issue, you might need to find a new doc. As far as the school system goes, just like Foody said, most states have an exemption law. I keep a typed letter in my file on all my children for being vaccine exempt.
They are you children, you have every right to do what you want with their vaccines.

Good luck!!<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

good for you for planning now. We have chosen not to vaccinate the baby at this time, though my son has been fully vaccinated up until this point - but will not recieve any more vaxes.

Checkout Stephanie Cave's book for a delayed schedule, or go to Mothering.com and visit the vax boards (but beware, they are pretty much completely anti-vax).

The MMR can be separated, my doc even suggested it to me. Also, simply waiting until baby is older as Foody suggested is a good idea. I have heard HORRIBLE things about the Hep B vax given at birth, so definitely research that one (though my son had it and seems no worse for the wear - but I wouldn't not expose my daughter to it knowing what I know now). We are going to get a religious/philosophical exemption for the baby when she gets ot kindergarten, even if we do partially vax her before that.
