Exercise and some vitamin B12 can do the trick for some people. However, when coping with a disease as rough as CF, there's no shame in bringing in the professionals. I see a therapists off and on when things are getting me out of whack. Sometimes we just talk, other times she suggests some modifications I can make to my lifestyle to keep from getting overwhelmed. My biggest problem is that when I don't get adequate sleep, everything else goes to pot. I'm on sleep meds that also work as mood stabilizers and I've had tremendous success with them.

Lots of good info posted.

My question is, what if you live to be my age? I dont know the severity of your disease, and im not trying to minimize your feelings because they are real..

I just want to bring up the fact that there are many that are going for there dreams and why shouldnt you be one of them?

Depression is not something that you can or should ignore. It can rob you of happiness and that is something that is precious to someone w/ a serious illness.

You have many options and i hope you take advantage of them..

{{{{{Hugs}}}}} to you.. Keep us posted. PM me if you want.

that's a really good point. if i were to live to at least your age, a lot of this fear would subside. i wish i had a crystal ball to let me know how long i'll live <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">

i guess the uncertainty is at the heart of all the issues--most people have a guaranteed 70-80 year lifespan, so they don't worry about it. i wish i could just get over that fear.

hey. i think this "why bother" feeling is common for CFers, particularly those entering their late 20s. that's what my doctor said. when i came into this negative mindset, i went and saw a counselor to air out some of my concerns. one concern for me was, "Wait a second, i wasn't supposed to make it this far, what the hell am i supposed to do NOW!??" </end quote></div>

I went through the exact same thing once I hit my later 20's. I am just now trying to figure out what I really want to do with my life now that I am obviously not going to kick the bucket b/c of CF within the next 7 years. Everyone can say that you should make decisions for yourself as if you are going to live a 'normal' life but being dx at birth, this is 'normal' to me. So making decisions any other way definitely required some thinking outside of myself.
