I don't really want to talk sorry, but could someone please recommend an anti depressant to take for CF thank you. I don't want to talk to my team I don't trust them so I will just get it off the internet.

Are Paxil any good?

I'm waiting for a liver transplant assessment so they can't mess with that.

Thank again

all SSRI's are metabolized through the liver.

and i'm certainly not comfortable recommending anything from someone who isn't going to get an Rx from a physician.

Hi Burn,

I don't have any recommendations, but I wanted to say that it would be best to make sure that the antidepressant works well with all your other meds. You could get into more trouble than it's worth if they conflict. Maybe book an appointment with a psychiatrist on your own. That way you're getting around your CF doctors but still getting a doctor's assistance and Rx.

If they're evaluating your liver, they're bound to find out anyways, the drugs will show up in tests. Buying them online is not something I would recommend.

Besides which, CF or not, anti-depressants are not something you can just recommend as a whole. What works for one person often does NOT work for another. It's not a tried and true type thing, you have to try one, see if it works, tweak the dosage, or mix it, or drop it and try another entirely. Not something you should really do on your own.

If someone else wants to suggest one, that's their business. But I won't tell you what works for me for two reasons: 1. Trying it on your own is dangerous. 2. Just because what I take works for me doesn't mean it'd work for you.

Try something natural? Standardized St. John's Wort maybe? Check out Amoryn...www.amoryn.com. You don't need a script, and a lot of older antidepressants were actually based on the active chemical in st johns wort.

I'm not saying it's safe, but it might be a bit safer then say trying paxil on your own. Good luck dude,

Nope....I was looking into them though..but i decided to see somebody before i self medicated. You're talking about your brain here man. This isn't something you should mess around with. You mess up your leg, you're ok. You mess up your brain, that's all you have.

Take it easy dude....

I take zoloft and it works great. Talk to your doc. They really
understand that we do have alot to go through. If anything don't
talk to the CF docs talk to you PCP.
