Depression and Anexity

I was once on lexapro, then I got switched to zoloft. I had no luck with either of them and quit taking them against a psychiatrist's advice. I just felt like I was watching my life through a monitor on the side of a video camera. Something that most people refer to as "filtered reality". It was horrible. Who knows, maybe I would have had better luck with a different drug. I haven't taken anything for depression or anxiety ever again.

I take Cymbalta 60 mg and Ablify 20 mg every day. This combination has worked the best for me so far. I have tried so many different ones. I still feel depressed alot, but the meds do help alot as long as I take them religously. I do forget sometimes, but try not to. I can tell when I forget.

I started suffering from Anxiety and depression a couple years ago. They started me on 75mg daily of Effexor and have had no problems since. I rarely have anxiety attacks and am no longer dealing with depression which is nice, there is also a staff psychologist for the CF clinic at my hospital that I see as I feel the need.

Love your dogs by the way! I've tried prozac, and wellbutrin. I'm on amitriptyline (sp?) now. I'm only on 10 mg a day because I don't tolerate a higher dose well. I also take St. Johns Wart and that seems to help as much or more than the amitriptyline.

Yes, I will admit that I definitely have anxiety issues at times, a few years back some depression. For the anxiety I was on Xanax periodically, nothing chronic. With alot of therapy, my depression got much better and I did not require meds. I hope they find a good combination for you, everyone is so unique. My daughter who is almost 15 has severe anxiety and panic attacks, we are doing intensive therapy as well as going to start therapy with Xanax and I want to say Lexapro, but I could be wrong. This is a new thing to my daughter and our family. I know it will take some time to tweak her meds to get the right effect for her. Many hugs to you, Jenn

darkside,
I had that "filtered reality" feeling BEFORE I was on any meds. It felt like I was watching a movie about me. I fel like I was reacting, not acting. It was horrible. I'm still not 100%, but I function 100% better than I did before the meds.

Like Jenn said, everyone is unique, I hope you find what works for you.

I have high anxiety, very high. I took buspirone for a bit but it made me super tired. Then I did paxil but after about a year and a half I started having memory loss issues and I couldnt remember things clearly (I since found out this happens to others too). Currently not on anything but have found that excercise and therapy helps.
