DESIGNING NEW THERAPY VEST!!! need to know what people like and dislike in thier vest and therapys please help

Hi, my name is carolynn i am an Industrial Design student from milwaukee WI. I do not have CF but my Boyfreind and his brother both do. For my Senior Thesis i am redesigning "the vest".

I was wondering if people could tell me the problems they have occured with thier vest or any respritory therapy at all... or have seen with thier family memebers.

What do you like about the vest you have,
Which vest and other theropys do you use.
Is it hard for you to use..
Where in the house do you do the therapy.
Do you travel with the vest? Is it difficult?
Do you find it effective?
Dose it hurt to bad?
Dose your medi-port get in the way.
If you are female dose it hurt the breast area?
Dose it ride up?
Is it not vibrating enough on places you need it to?
Dose it work for you?


Any thing anyone can tell me will be most helpful and greatly appreiciated. I know thier are many individual proplems with current models and i would like to attend to those. I will keep every updated on the progress made on my design Hopefully it will be th next best thing hehe.... THANK YOU

My toddler has The Vest. We like it for the most part but here is what we would change:

-programmable settings (so it changes automatically)
-the smaller the compressor the better
-hose connectors so the hoses don't fall off

I think the new vest by Respirtech(sp) has already made these changes for their new vest though....

My 1 1/2 y.o. uses the vest. I think we have the smallest vest they make. We would like it better if:

-the hoses didn't fall off, maybe somehow swiveled so they didn't kink
-the neck-hole was bigger/rounder, it chafes against his skin
-it had straps to hold it down from riding up. (he wears a diaper so this would work for him, not sure how comfy straps would be for an adult!)

hi i am connie from indiana i dont have cf but my 11 yr old daughter does and was born with it, they interduced us the "vest" to us 6 months ago and i think it is a wonderful idea that some one thought of my duaghter is more relaxed with it and we have seen some improvements with the vest

Someone needs to make an XL vest for grownup men. My husband's bad lobe was his lower left lobe. He was 6'3" tall and weighed 190 lbs. There wasn't a vest out there he could use for that lobe.

Make it less noisy.

The case on ours rattles pretty loudly. We've had two machines and they both rattled the same way. It usually quiets down after five minutes but those first five minutes can be annoying. It will be even more annoying when our 3yro is a little older and we have to stop it every ten minutes for her to cough.
