DESIGNING NEW VEST>>> i need to know what you would like to see changed

The wheels would definitely be great. That would make it easier for me to get it from here to there without having to ask for assistance sometimes.

Occassionally mine rides up, I find it is mainly when I am not sitting straight, but it is still aggravating and a bit uncomfy.
Those would be convenient changes.

The only change I would absolutely love to make because it is an issue for me is if there was some way to get more percussion on your sides. I have the vest that inflates all around, but I personally have always had problems with congestion in the lobe areas on my sides/directly under my arms and I just don't feel that much of a percussion sensation there.

As to size, I can't complain to much. I tried one when they first came out and they were so huge and shook so hard that it was painful - for the same reason most girls/females mentioned - we returned it at the time and I just got one in the past few years.

Hope that is helpful,
Lindsey

Also forgot to add - other therapies I use manual Chest Physical Therapy when I am in the hospital for infection. My doc recommends it and I prefer it.
Occasional tenderness/pain in breast area - I sometimes adjust the frequency or tightness of the vest depending on the level of discomfort.
Things I like about the vest - I can do airway clearance without someone elses assistance and whenever I want. I like that I can "pause" it in the middle of treatment and walk away if I am coughing and it does not have to continue to run.
Where I do therapy - usually in my room unless we are on vacation then I do it whereever I am able.
I use the Vest twice a day for 20 minutes in the morning and 20 min at night. 2 separate 10 minute periods on different frequencies - I am always changing the frequency to what I feel is working (another nice plus because you do not always have to be "hit" at the same rate/strength) for me that day or what have you so I will not give frequency or anything like that.

Just received the vest last week for my 2year old son so not much experience, but those hoses definitely seem like a weak link; how about connecting with a fitting more like on a vacuum cleaner hose? the hose itself could stand to be more flexible, again more like a vacuum hose or like the hoses on a commercial compressor for air tools - though I have no idea if the rigidity of the current hose is necessary to transmit the air pulse. Might be worth looking at the points at which the hoses attach to the vest: both are more or less at the lower front but why not one at the back top and one at the front bottom? or what about multiple points of attachment that can be used or capped off as needed. The machine itself in its small-size version seems pretty well done. For the smallest sizes of the vest itself, how about a vest in something other than plain black - maybe something more colorful or in some sort of character design (i.e. fireman, Bob-the-Builder, Dora, etc) so that my toddler does not look so much like a swat team member.

Good luck on your project.

To get the new smaller version avaliable right now.. sometimes if your doctor submits the request for the smaller vest it works better saying that it works better and so forth, because as of right now the older vest dostn even work as well.. it dostn vibrate as well, and it is not travelable. I have seen people get the newer version by thier doctor working some word magic with the insurance comapany.. other wise..... check out the smart vest.... it is a little cheeper and the unit is tiny.. ugly but tiny lol <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

I really like the flexible hose idea. They don't bend with the kids while they play. And making them stick in better would be great. My son does his in his room. He got a TV from santa so he would do treatments 'easier', but he can't really hear the tv too well so he just plays with his cars. I also like the slower speed with harder force. The fast speed scares my 3 year old, but I know I did physical a lot harder on him.

**Let us know what you come up with** Good Luck!

The hoses falling off are definitely an issue. I also like the idea of the wheels to make it easier to move around. Also, since this is an air compressor would it be possible to have a place to insert tubing for mini-neb treatments so that would put 2 appliances into one. My daughter also has the problem of her vest riding up on her and we always have to pull it back down. The vest does not seem to work too well for the upper lobes of the lungs - this is where my daughter always gets her infiltrates.
