Alex's test came back at 140 so they put him on a glucose monitor to keep track of his sugar levels he is not on insulin they just want to keep track for about a year.

At first I was a little upset.

He also has sensory dysfunction he can barely feel the pain. I am debating whether to argue with the docs or not?

Argue with the docs? about what? the fact that he might have diabetes???

Diabetes can have a big impact on a CFer's health so I would definitely try to figure out what's going on.

Best of luck

The argument is they told me he does not have diabetes.
I just don't want to put him threw this if it's not needed.

I am very worried about him getting diabetes.
My sister was 8 when she had it.
thanks
Sue

I would be pro-active and do what they suggest. It sounds like you have only one picture in time right now....the one glucose test.....they need a bigger diagnostic picture in order to KNOW for certain what his glucose levels are on a regular basis. Levels change through the day and in reaction to many different foods or infection, exercise, and other things. As was mentioned, diabetes can have a really big affect on overall health AND lung health for CFers.

Being pro-active and knowing what is going on will help you to make informed decisions and make changes if necessary. KNOWLEDGE IS POWER and fear of the unknown often times leaves us without some of the answers we may need to best combat CF.
